I am self taught - having started with watercolour landscapes, barns & boats and have  progressed through charcoal figure work to loose oil urban landscapes & figures. Having selected my subject the first priority is to get local colours onto the canvas that establishes the component blocks of the subject.  I then start working on picking out darks and lights  to create contrast and movement. At this point I will often break down the painting to loosen the shapes and edges. Important areas get reworked often with drawing elements introduced until I am satisfied that I have captured the mood I'm after.

I have been painting full time since 2000 having previously worked in the Civil Service. In 2001 I entered my first exhibition, the C21 Watercolour Exhibition at The Bankside Gallery and his painting 'The Monument' was voted best in exhibition by readers of The Artist Magazine.

I have had work sold through The Ruiz Gallery (Ely), The Hicks Gallery (Wimbledon), The John Arthur Gallery (Dorking) and The Claremont Gallery (Sevenoaks) and has also exhibited at The Mall Gallery (The Marine Artists & the New English Art Club) and The Llewellyn Alexander in The Alternative Summer Exhibition.

My work is now world-wide having been sold and sent to the USA, South Africa, Malta, France, Switzerland and India.
